Francisco Domingo
(Valencia 1842 – Madrid 1920)

Painter from the Spanish School. – His first period occurs in Spain, until he moved to Paris in 1875, where he almost exclusively focused on producing anecdotal paintings with impeccable execution. His second self-portrait comes from this period, dated 1884, and is currently in the Prado Museum. His first self-portrait also sits in El Prado, dated 1865.

In 1914, during the World War I, he returned to Spain and settled in Madrid, where he obtained official recognition. He was admitted in the Fine Arts Academy in 1917, and received public honors in Valencia in 1918.
